The 15th piece in its annual series of Bell family reproductions features one reproduction per year in a limited edition of 100, created by the center’s executive director and ceramist James Smith.

The 2014 reproduction is based on a lead and iron glazed earthenware flowerpot with attached saucer. The original is in the permanent collection of the Nic. Center and is on display in the center’s gallery, Room 302, General Studies Building, Penn State Mont Alto.

It is stamped JOHN BELL on the base and was made in Bell’s Waynesboro shop during the mid 1800s. The flowerpot measures 6.00 inches in diameter at the rim and 5.00 inches in height.

The flowerpot reproduction was be the final piece in the annual Bell family series by James Smith. Lynette King, Orrtanna, made the center’s first four reproductions (2000 through 2003) Jack Handshaw, Fairfield, made numbers five through seven (2004 through 2006) and Smith made numbers eight through fifteen.
